Central Washington University Alumni Association recognizes Taylor Steele, College of Sciences graduate for professional achievements.

The Central Washington University Alumni Association today announced that OneEnergy Renewables’ project manager Taylor Steele will be honored as a Distinguished Alumna by being awarded the 2016 4 Under 40 Leadership Award for the College of the Sciences.

Steele is among ten alumni recognized for their professional achievements and their ongoing support and commitment to the university. The Distinguished Alumni Awards recognizes CWU graduates who have made a name in their fields, earned respect among colleagues and in the general community, and who have had an impact on a regional, national and/or international level.

“Taylor has shown great leadership at OneEnergy and it is exciting to celebrate this notable milestone with her,” said Jennifer Barnes, vice president of operations and communications at OneEnergy Renewables. “She is an invaluable member of our Pacific Northwest community and this award reflects both her drive and commitment to advancing both talent and projects within the renewable energy industry.”

CWU’s 4 Under 40 award specifically highlights alumni who exhibit a commitment to personal growth and community service. They are recognized leaders in their profession or volunteer service; and under 40 years of age.

“This award serves not only as a moment to reflect upon my accomplishments, but more importantly, as a reminder of the work to come” says Taylor Steele, associate of project development at OneEnergy Renewables. “Now more than ever, I am motivated to continue on a leadership path within the communities I serve. The great work being done by Central’s distinguished alumni is a true inspiration and I am honored to be recognized for my achievements by the CWU Alumni Association.”

Steele is responsible for site selection, acquisition, permitting, and interconnection for OneEnergy’s Pacific Northwest solar photovoltaic projects, and helps lead OneEnergy’s GIS and data curation efforts. She is deeply involved in her communities and works tirelessly to promote access and equity in the environmental movement. She serves on the board of Women in Sustainability and Environment as well as the Portland Area Sustainability Group. Additionally, she is an active member of both Environmental Professionals of Color and Urban League. In 2013, Taylor Steele, graduated with honors from Central Washington University with a B.A. of International Studies.
