Forest City Solar is part of OneEnergy’s Butter Solar portfolio, a 32 megawatt DC suite of 10 solar projects in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa. The Butter Solar portfolio came online in the summer of 2019.
Upper Midwest Municipal Energy Group (UMMEG) purchases Butter Solar’s power. UMMEG is a joint action agency representing electricity providers in Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota.
Butter Solar is a unique partnership. Ten UMMEG member communities host the solar projects and use the solar power they generate. In addition, Dr. Bronner’s, Native Energy and Organic Valley purchase renewable energy credits from the portfolio, lowering power supply costs for all parties.
OneEnergy Renewables developed the solar portfolio and BluEarth Renewables acquired and operates the projects.
